CHANGING MIND-SETS | Sustainability – How to overcome initial resistance and make a change in the community?

The fifth and last Nordic Bridge event was hosted by H.E. Erik Vilstrup Lorenzen, the Ambassador of Denmark in Hungary. This night was dedicated to Sustainability – How to overcome initial resistance and make a change in the community?

We had several guest speakers this night. First, Marie Kåstrup, urban strategic consultant, who spoke about how urban creators are change makers starting a movement towards more sustainable cities and mobility. Then Marie Kåstrup, Samu Márton Balogh, Head of Cabinet of the Mayor of Budapest, urban cycling promoter and Áron Halász, Vice President and Spokeperson of Cyclists' Club had a discussion about where Budapest is right now on its way to becoming a cycling city, what challenges it faces and what new ways the city established in citizen participation and how it manages resistance. Our last guest speaker was Krisztián Mészáros, Velux Vice President for CEE Region who showed us the company’s Sustainability Strategy.

Leading/Leaders in Times of Trauma with Lars Halaas Lyster - Fourth event of Nordic Bridge

The fourth Nordic Bridge event was hosted by H.E. Trine Skymoen, the Ambassador of Norway in Hungary. This night was dedicated to Leading/Leaders in Times of Trauma. Our guest speaker was Lars Halaas Lyster, who is a clinical psychologist and special advisor at RVTS East (Regional Center – Violence, Trauma and Suicide Prevention).

"In my current job I advise policy makers, teach leaders and crisis teams in crisis management, create educational programs, and teach helpers on a national, regional and municipal level, supervise 1. Line workers, support and advice municipalities and governmental agencies during and after regional, national and international crisis and catastrophes.

I have worked as a clinical psychologist for several years. Trauma, violence, suicide prevention and crisis management are themes I have worked with as a clinician and as an educator. I have given support to the Norwegian armed forces for many years and have supervised leaders and given support to soldiers on site in Iraq, Afghanistan and Kosovo."

Leadership and values – is there a Nordic style?

The third Nordic Bridge event was aimed at Leadership and values. The Swedish brand which everyone knows in the whole world, IKEA was one of the guests during the night. They were talking about implementing Swedish values in/for a successful global business.

Why “Culture Eats Strategy for Breakfast”? What does it mean for our organization? Is there a Nordic management style? We joined the Viking heirs and explored the answers with the special help of Heli Aalto, Regional Director, Hungary and Slovenia, KONE and György Nagy, Country manager, Sigma Technology.

The second event of Nordic Bridge

What does your future look like? Is it still possible to turn the destiny of humankind? Which kind of role AI play in all this? Does gender matter at all in the future? How can you improve your happiness and wellbeing? These were the starting questions of the second event of Nordic Bridge, hosted by H.E. Mr Markku Virri, Ambassador of Finland.

At this night the community of Nordic Bridge members had a discussion with Dr. Sari Stenfors, futurist and strategist about the future, foresight, imagination and happiness.

The launch event of Nordic Bridge

Nordic Bridge is a community for increased knowledge and cooperation between Hungary and the five Nordic countries (Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden). The programme has been elaborated jointly by the Nordic Embassies in Budapest and is financially supported by the Nordic Council of Ministers.

The first event was hosted by H.E. Mr. Dag Hartelius, Ambassador of Sweden. This event was dedicated to the launch of Nordic Bridge, where members had the opportunity to get to know each other a bit. Trust was a focal point and the topic of the night, where Prof. Peter Thisted Dinesen, political scientist held a presentation about trust. We had the pleasure to listen to a panel featuring Péter Árvai, Executive Chair and co-founder of Prezi and Ádám Berzsenyi Bellaagh, theater and artistic director.
